What a Trading Account Is and What It Costs

A trading account is the account you open with a broker to place trades. In Kenya, the minimum deposit to open one varies by broker. Stockity asks for USD 10, Deriv and Pocket Option ask for USD 5, and BinaryCent asks for USD 250. The others on this page — Quotex, IQ Option, Olymp Trade, Binomo, Expert Option and Exnova — all start at USD 10.

Minimum trade size also differs. Deriv allows trades from USD 0.35, and BinaryCent from USD 0.10. Stockity, Pocket Option, Quotex, IQ Option, Olymp Trade, Binomo, Expert Option and Exnova all set the minimum trade at USD 1.

These figures are the ones published by the brokers and checked on 13.10.2026. They can change, so treat them as a starting point rather than a permanent promise. What matters for a Kenyan reader is that you can open an account with a small amount and test the platform before committing more.

A lower minimum deposit does not mean a better broker. It simply means the barrier to entry is lower. You should look at the platform, the payment routes and the payout percentage together before deciding where to open a trading account.

Funding a Trading Account from Kenya

Most Kenyan traders fund their trading account through M-Pesa. This usually happens through a payment partner rather than the broker directly, so the deposit may show a different name on your M-Pesa statement. That is normal for this route.

Bank transfer is another option. Any local bank works, through PesaLink or a standard transfer. This route can be slower than M-Pesa, but it is useful for larger amounts.

Cards are accepted by many brokers, but Visa and Mastercard deposits are subject to your bank's international limit. Some Kenyan banks block international card transactions by default, so you may need to ask your bank to enable them.

USDT is usually the fastest route when a card is declined. Most deposits use the TRC-20 network. If you already hold USDT, this can be the most direct way to move money into a trading account without involving a bank.

The payment routes on this page are M-Pesa, bank transfer, cards and USDT. Not every broker offers all four, so check the deposit page of the broker you choose before you open an account.

Platforms You Can Use with a Kenyan Trading Account

Every broker on this page offers Android, iOS and web access. That means you can open and use a trading account from a phone, which is how most Kenyan traders operate.

Some brokers go further. Deriv offers MT5 and TradingView in addition to its own platforms, Deriv Trader, Deriv X and SmartTrader. Pocket Option offers MT4 and MT5 alongside its own Pocket Option platform.

The rest use their own platform only. Stockity runs the Stockity platform, Quotex runs the Quotex platform, IQ Option runs the IQ Option platform, Olymp Trade runs the Olymp Trade platform, Binomo runs the Binomo platform, Expert Option runs the ExpertOption platform, Exnova runs the Exnova platform and BinaryCent runs the BinaryCent platform.

If you already know MT4 or MT5, Deriv and Pocket Option are the two names on this list that let you keep using those tools. If you prefer a broker's own app, all of them have one. The choice depends on whether you want a familiar third-party platform or a purpose-built app.

Licensing and What It Means for Your Trading Account

In Kenya, the Capital Markets Authority licenses online forex brokers and money managers. It does not license fixed-time trading, which is what most brokers on this page offer. That means a Kenyan trader using one of these platforms is dealing with a broker regulated elsewhere, or in some cases not regulated in any register we could find.

Deriv holds licences on record from MFSA (70156), Labuan FSA (MB/18/0024) and VFSC (company No. 14556). Pocket Option holds a licence from MISA in Mwali (T2022086). IQ Option holds CySEC 247/14 for the EEA. Olymp Trade is registered with VFSC (company No. 40131, Aollikus Limited) and is a Financial Commission member. Binomo is an IFC (FinaCom) Category A member. Expert Option is a Financial Commission member.

Quotex and Exnova have no licence found in any register we read. BinaryCent also has none found, and it carries warnings on record including a VFSC notice of fraud, a CFTC red-list entry, an AMF blacklist entry and an FMA New Zealand warning. Exnova carries withdrawal complaints and a no-regulator warning on record.

None of this is a promise about what will happen to your money. It is a record of what we found. Before you open a trading account, read the broker's terms and check whether the regulator it claims actually covers Kenyan clients.
